How This Website Works...

This is an attempt at facilitating a truly "community" grown garden. Though now the number of people who have expressed interest in helping at our little plot at Potrero del Sol is only a few (around 6), it is already a little complex to try to communicate what seeds are planted in the ground, where they are, what are weeds and what are not, and what people are wanting to plant in the future. So this is an attempt to enhance (and hopefully simplify) communication about such things. The idea is that if you'd like to work in the garden on any given day, check this blog first to see if there has been any recent activity in the garden. Also, if you planted something, make note of it here as well. Of course, this blog is an experiment, and we'll see how well it works. Happy gardening!

Garden Map, Sprout Identification

Garden Map Attempt:

Sprout Identification
I've done successive plantings for most of the plants I've planted by seed, therefore there are sprouts at different stages in growth, some bigger than others, some still not visible above the soil.  I've tried to carefully circle the areas I've planted with seeds on this garden map, as well as have outlined them somewhat with sticks at the garden.  A better marking system there is yet to come.  Please don't dig in any of the red marked off areas on this map as you'll dig up seeds/sprouts.  ALSO, please don't weed there either unless the weed is big enough to be identifiable as definitely not a sprout, I'd rather have weeds than lose sprouting seeds and time will easily reveal which is which.  Thanks!
